Project Details
This research project aims to improve Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) observations by comparing tropospheric data from satellite sources with the ground-based VLBI solutions. The primary goal is to enhance the accuracy of VLBI measurements by refining tropospheric delay corrections used in those experiments. The student will:
- Collect and analyze VLBI observational data, focusing on tropospheric delay measurements from geodetic VLBI.
- Gather relevant satellite data, including GPS and Sentinel-5P, for atmospheric composition measurements
- Develop algorithms to compare satellite-derived tropospheric data with VLBI data.
- Implement and test improved tropospheric delay models for VLBI observations.
- Investigate the potential of including near-real-time satellite data for dynamic tropospheric corrections in VLBI observations.
This project will contribute to advancing VLBI techniques by leveraging complementary satellite data for potentially more accurate tropospheric modeling and better geodetic solutions.
