Dr Renu Sharma, ICRAR’s Chief Operating Officer and Director of Translation and Impact, has been inducted into the WA Women’s Hall of Fame.

Dr Sharma said she was honoured and humbled to accept the nomination.

“I never thought I would be standing here. This is for my team, first and foremost,” Dr Sharma said.

Dr Sharma has been ICRAR’s COO and director of T&I since its launch in 2009. She has also been a champion of diversity, equity and inclusion in her time at the organisation.

In 2024, ICRAR introduced a scholarship in Dr Sharma’s name for women and indigenous people in astronomy, in recognition of her long support of ICRAR’s DEI efforts.

Dr Sharma was nominated by inaugural Executive Director Professor Peter Quinn, for her role helping to position WA a global hub for for radio astronomy.

The WA Women’s Hall of Fame was first established in 2011 in recognition of the Centenary of International Women’s Day, held annually on 8th March.
