December 11, 2018ICRAR is saddened to hear to the passing of Professor Riccardo Giacconi on 9 December. Prof. Giacconi had a huge influence on modern astronomy and astrophysics through his leadership and contribution to X-ray astronomy, the Hubble Space Telescope, the ESO VLT and the Atacama Large Millimetre Array (ALMA).
New Norcia Dish sends Perth kids’ messages to the cosmos
November 27, 2018Dalkeith Primary School students have transmitted a ‘golden record’ into space, filled with illustrations, photos and messages for the Universe. The Year 5 and 6 students’ transmission was sent this morning from the European Space Agency’s deep space antenna at New Norcia.
