Telescopes team up to study giant galaxy
December 12, 2017Astronomers have used two Australian radio telescopes and several optical telescopes to study complex mechanisms that are fuelling jets of material blasting away from a black hole 55 million times more massive than the Sun.

Astronomer’s map reveals location of mysterious fast-moving gas
December 4, 2017An Australian scientist has created the most detailed map ever of clouds of high-velocity gas in the Universe around us. The map covers the entire sky and shows curious clouds of neutral hydrogen gas that are moving at a different speed to the normal rotation of the Milky Way.

BRITE space mission reveals the origins of fundamental structures in the wind of the supergiant star zeta Puppis
October 25, 2017ICRAR astronomer Paul Luckas has collaborated with a Canadian-led team of astronomers who have discovered observational evidence for how features at the surface of the massive southern supergiant star zeta Puppis induce the formation of fundamental structures in its wind.
