Australian federal science minister drops in to ICRAR
On the 3rd of February 2012, Senator Chris Evans, Australia’s Minister for science, visited The University of Western Australia node of ICRAR along with UWA’s new Vice-Chancellor Professor Paul Johnson.
From Left to Right: Professor Lister Staveley-Smith (Deputy Director), Dr Renu Sharma (General Manager), Professor Paul Johnson (UWa Vice-Chancellor), Senator Chris Evans, Professor Peter Quinn (Director) and Dr Bernard Bowen (Chairman of the Board).
Senator Evans heard from Director Professor Peter Quinn and Chairman of the Board Dr Bernard Bowen on ICRAR’s plans and the Square Kilometre Array. The Senator then spoke with staff and students over our regular morning tea, expressing his commitment to the Australian and New Zealand bid to host the SKA and reiterating that the federal government is doing everything they can to bring the core of the SKA to his home state of WA.
With words like that, he’s welcome back any time.
