Project Details
The project will develop a specialised software solution for quality control of images captured by ICRAR internet accessible Telescope SPIRIT. The software will enable automated analysis and evaluation of astronomical images, ensuring their clarity, and suitability for scientific research purposes. This project will provide valuable experience and learning opportunities for a student while addressing a need at ICRAR.
The main objectives of this project will be as follows:
- Develop an image processing algorithm to assess the quality of astronomical images.
- Implement a user-friendly interface for interacting with the software and analysing image metrics for testing.
- Integrate the software with the existing image system for seamless operation.
- Validate the software’s effectiveness by comparing its assessments with manual evaluations by astronomers.
- Optimize the software for efficiency and real-time analysis of incoming images.
